The Oscars Award Ceremony can bring you profit, quite simply because any movie can bring you profit, and the oscars serve to nicely bring certain films into the spotlight.
The Oscars is the movie industry's biggest annual back-slapping event, and with all the hype (did someone say OVER hype??) surrounding the ceremony, it is a great marketing vehicle for the whole industry, more so for the films nominated, and of course even more so for the films that win!
This is how we can profit, because a nomination of win generates huge interest in a film, and everything to do with it, and we can tap into the money that film fans shell out all the time!
How?
Ok, let's take as an example the 2007 Best Picture winner, The Departed. A great way to make money from this film is to be an affiliate. As an affiliate you send traffic to a sites that sell products related to The Departed.
When they buy, you get a commission. There is a poster site called allposters.com which has a great affiliate programme. When a visitor gets to the site, the company does a great job of showing related film posters, and also framing options. People do buy these extras, and the commissions add up! They have some affiliates earning big 5 figure monthly cheques.
It's a great way to earn money online, because you don't even need a website. Yes, it makes life easier if you have one, but it isn't essential.
Another way is to set up your own site. With this method you get to keep all the profit, and can branch into all areas of film profit.
Movie fans can be obsessive, and have no qualms about spending money for that obsession - great for us! Of course setting up your own website is more of a long term project, and earning potential should be viewed in that light.
A 3rd way is to provide information. With the advance of technology, it's easy and quick to provide information and again, movie fans will pay if you offer them information that appeals - how about information on how to watch all the movies they want all the time, for free? That's a seller right there - sounds good to me!
